A friend sent some pictures with an .lnk extension.
I understand that I can convert the extension to .jpg manually, but are they then safe to view, or might there still be something malicious in the file that could cause havoc with my computer?
My friend didn't take the pictures, they were taken by someone else, so she doesn't have any way to insure that they're safe.

Re: Viewing pictures with .lnk extension
Hi, It seems like your friend didn't send you a pictures, but only link files, that contain only paths to pictures stored on his disk drive. More information about lnk files are at our website http://www.file-extensions.org/lnk-file-extension. Your friend will have to send original pictures in jpg, jpeg, or any other picture format.
